Hope

“Hope”
Radiance Series
24x36”

I actually completed this painting almost three years ago but only just this month got it properly photographed and ready to share. I wanted to share her story with you today.

This stunningly sensual blue woman holds a very special place in my heart. After my son was born, I went through a severe period of postpartum depression that culminated in a hospital stay and began a journey of treatment, recovery, and understanding of my mental illness. This painting is a raw expression from near the beginning of that journey. A time where I was fragile, vulnerable, exposed, and fully wrapped in deep feelings.  She was a way for me to express that pain and grief and confusion and at the same time, the immense love I was receiving from my family, friends, and caregivers.

I call her Hope, because to me, more than anything, she is hopeful.
Surrendering, accepting, and as she feels the warm light on her face, sure in her knowledge that the world will continue turning and this too shall pass.
She serves as a reminder to me, and I wish now for you as well, that our struggles are beautiful in their own way and that we need never give up hope.

Sending you so much love and hope for wherever you are on your journey today.
